FaxAlertX: a text when your fax arrives

Get faxes by email, with a text so you know one came, and send a PDF as a fax. No fax machine, and no fax number of your own.

On this page

Set it up (about a minute)

  1. Open https://useralertx.com/cgi-bin/itfax.cgi and sign in (or create an account).
  2. Tick the box and tap Turn on FaxAlertX. It's off on every account until you turn it on.
  3. You get your own fax code, like FX-K7MRTA. It's on the Setup tab, with a cover sheet you can print and give to senders.

Get a fax

  1. Tell the sender: "Fax it to (612) 540-0040 and write my code on the cover."
  2. We read the code on our own servers - no person and no AI sees a fax that has your code.
  3. The fax is emailed to your account's address as a PDF. Tick Text me when a fax arrives on Setup for a text too.

No code on the fax? We read the "To:" line and send it to you only if it exactly matches a name you listed on Setup. Anything we're not sure of waits, private, for 14 days. If one you expected doesn't come, use Find a missing fax on the History tab.

WarningFaxAlertX is not for medical records or other health information.

Send a fax

  1. On the Send tab, type your name or business (it's printed at the top of every page - the law requires it) and the fax number.
  2. Choose the PDF. Leave Cover sheet ticked to add one with a To and a note; it tells them how to fax you back.
  3. Tick the box that it isn't an advertisement, and tap Send the fax. We email you when it's delivered, or if it can't be.

Or tell your AI agent: "fax this PDF to (555) 555-0101 using FaxAlertX" (tools: send_fax, fax_status, list_faxes). It asks you to confirm the fax isn't an advertisement first.
