MemberAlertX: group texts

One text reaches your family, team, club or crew. You invite people by email, each person opts in on their own phone, and anyone can stop with one word.

Start a group

1. Go to https://memberalertx.com and click Start a group (or Sign in). It uses your UserAlertX account.
2. Give the group a name that says what kind of group it is, like Smith Family, Blackhawks Team or GS-4 Furnace alarms. Every text starts with it.
3. Add your name. The invites say who they are from.
4. Invite people by email. See Inviting people and how they join.

Send a text to the group

Open the group, write the message under Send to the group and press Send. It goes out as:

MemberAlertX: Smith Family: Practice moved to 6 pm. Reply STOP to opt out

Only people who joined and replied YES from their own phone get it. You can also send by email: see Send to a group by email.

Text my group (a page to bookmark)

Text my group (on Your groups) is one box: pick the group, write, Send. Each group has its own address, like https://memberalertx.com/cgi-bin/mxsend.cgi?g=smith-family. Bookmark it or add it to your phone's home screen, and texting the group is two taps.

Rules and limits

• Up to 300 characters a message. Link shorteners (bit.ly and others) aren't allowed; carriers block them. Use the full link.
• 10 group texts a day per group to start. Need more? Ask support.
• Up to 500 people a group and 20 groups an account.
• No ads, promotions or bulk marketing. We pause groups that misuse it.
• The same carrier rules as any text: see What can't be sent by text.

Cost

1 token for each person a group text reaches, on your UserAlertX plan. The free trial covers only your own alerts; group texts need a plan. Members never pay us anything.

History

The group page shows the last 10 group texts. All texts sent to this group lists every one, newest first: when, the message, how it was sent (group page, by email or by agent) and how many people got it. Download all (CSV) gives you a spreadsheet of them.

Rename a group

Use Rename on the group page. Everyone stays in the group; later texts and invites use the new name.
