Send to a group by email

Give a group its own private email address. Mail sent to it from addresses you choose is texted to the group. Handy for alarms, controllers and programs that can only send email.

Turn it on

1. Open the group on memberalertx.com and find Send by email.
2. Click Turn on email sending. You get an address like [email protected], with a Copy button.
3. Under Who can send, list the senders allowed to use it, one per line: an address, or @company.com for a whole domain (up to 20). Your own email is already on the list.
4. Point the alarm system or program at the address.

What gets texted

The subject and the first lines of the email, up to 300 characters. Quoted replies and signatures are left out. For example:

MemberAlertX: GS-4 Furnace alarms: Active e-mail from GS-4 Furnace: Low oil pressure on unit 2. Reply STOP to opt out

The same checks as the group page apply: only confirmed members get it, the daily limit counts it, and link shorteners aren't allowed. The group page shows these texts with (by email).

When an email isn't sent

Mail from a sender not on the list, or one that breaks a rule, is not texted. We email you, the group's organizer, about it, at most once an hour per group. The sender gets nothing back.
